Launch of the EU Funded – West Pokot Ustahimilivu Project

The Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ministry of Public Service, Gender, Senior Citizens and Special Programmes Prof. Margaret Kobia together with the European Union in Kenya – Ambassador Henriette Geiger led the Ustahimilivu program partners to launch the four-year West Pokot EU Resilience program – Ustahimilivu,  that seeks to support community resilience for sustainable livelihoods.

The event took place on Thursday 18th November 2021, in Masol Community Conservancy, West Pokot in a colourful ceremony thats howcased the culture of the county and also the achievements made by the consortium partners thus far.

The EU-funded program is implemented by Northern Rangelands Trust as the lead partner, E4Impact Foundation, Amref Health Africa in Kenya, CEFA – Kenya & Somalia, Somirenec, National Drought Management Authority and the West Pokot County Government.

It hopes to address food and nutrition security, enhance climate change resilience, economic development and improved stability, peace, and conflict prevention in West Pokot County.


E4Impact is an initiative launched in 2010 by ALTIS – Graduate School of Business and Society of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, with the objective of training impact entrepreneurs in the developing world to support the start-up and growth of their businesses. In the EU funded Ustahimilivu program, E4Impact is giving support in Enterprise and Value Chain Development.
The USTAHIMILIVU project is funded by the European Union and Implemented by E4Impact Foundation, Northern Rangelands Trust (NRT) CEFA, Amref Health Africa and SOMIRENEC.
