TERMS OF REFERENCE – Farmer liaison and community manager

Project overview
E4Impact Foundation is one of the implementing partners in the ARABIKA project. ARABIKA stands for Action to Re-launch Agriculture and Branding Internationalization of Kenyan coffee In and out of Africa and the project focuses on the coffee supply chain by acting on the quality improvement component, capacity building of farmer cooperatives and branding / marketing of their coffee produce. We are looking to contract a Farmer liaison and Community manager who will be responsible for implementing the following tasks:
 
Main tasks
  • Supporting the onboarding farmers onto the digital platform and providing them with any technical support they may require.
  • To make farm visits to collect and collate data with regards to the ARABIKA project.
  • Validating and cross-checking data and uploading information onto digital platform database.
  • Performing the analysis of data generated from the coffee farmers and cooperative regions.
  • Providing data feedback and information to farmers.
  • Liaising with the coffee farmers regarding the information required by the project.
  • Helping arrange dissemination / knowledge exchange activities including events, website, social media, press articles, etc. This may include personal participation.
Qualifications and Professional experience required
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s level qualification in agriculture or related discipline.
  • At least 3 year’s relevant experience in agricultural value chains but more specifically the coffee sector, with a good working knowledge of coffee cooperatives and farmers.
  • An Interest in application of technology in farming systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programmes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work on under own initiative and also ability to maintain farmer confidentiality.
  • Effective organizational skills including attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Proven teamwork experience.
  • Good knowledge of English and oral and written Kiswahili.
  • Excellent ability to use the Office package and Internet.
  • Experience in conducting negotiations for contributions and partnership agreements in line with agriculture value chain activities.
  • Experience in designing and managing resource mobilization processes and strategies, negotiating contract terms, and providing related advice to the team.
  • Strong writing, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, negotiate diplomatically, and work independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent people skills and ability to work well in a multicultural and multidisciplinary work environment.
  • Extent and relevance of experience in designing and managing projects, interacting with social partners and with governments, international organizations, research institutions, civil society, and the private sector.
  • Experience in policy development, policy coordination and project planning.
