TERMS OF REFERENCE – Junior Data Entry Specialist

Project overview
E4Impact Foundation is one of the implementing partners in the ARABIKA project. ARABIKA stands for Action to Re-launch Agriculture and Branding Internationalization of Kenyan coffee In and out of Africa and the project focuses on the coffee supply chain by acting on the quality improvement component, capacity building of farmer cooperatives and branding / marketing of their coffee produce. We are looking to contract a junior data entry specialist who will be responsible for implementing the following tasks:
Main tasks
  • Provides technical support in the collection and digital recording of the following data through the use of tablets:
    • Personal, socio-economic and environmental data of coffee growers, associations and cooperatives, tasting laboratories, millers, and other relevant institutions in coffee production.
    • Data relating to the geo-referencing on a map (cartographic) of the positioning of the plots of land cultivated with coffee, of the terroirs (natural and microclimatic elements) and of the organoleptic analyzes (sensory analyzes).
  • Provides technical support to the senior database management and development expert in the prevention and eventual remediation of bugs in the IT system.
  • Interacts and coordinates with the on-site Coordinator in order to remedy any discrepancies in the data collected and cataloged.
  • Interacts with the staff responsible for collecting personal, socio-economic, terroir, tasting and sensory analysis laboratories and geo-referencing in order to ensure the accuracy of the data collected.
  • Make trips to the different counties where actors reside.
  • Any additional activities requested by the Coordinator on site and by the Senior Coordinator and in line with the profile.
Qualifications and Professional experience required
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Information Technology or related sectors.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with data collection activities of various kinds
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Ability to operate tablets and windows and android operating systems.
  • Flexibility to travel around the metropolitan area of Nairobi in the coffee producing counties: Bungoma, Kiambu, Embu, Nyeri, Meru, Machakos and Murang’a.
  • Good oral and written knowledge of English and Swahili.
  • Excellent ability to use the Office package, Internet, database and data management systems, SPSS and CSPro.
